Problem Statement
Listeners struggle with consuming long podcast episodes efficiently. An AI-generated podcast summary and highlights feature on Spotify would enable faster content consumption by providing key takeaways and essential moments, enhancing user experience and engagement.
Problem Background
Podcasts have revolutionized the way we consume content, offering an unparalleled level of accessibility and diversity. With millions of episodes available across various genres, listeners can explore topics ranging from news and education to entertainment and storytelling. However, a significant drawback of podcasts is their often lengthy duration, with many episodes exceeding an hour. This can be overwhelming for listeners, making it challenging to consume content efficiently.
As a result, users may struggle to find the time to listen to entire episodes, leading to a backlog of unlistened content or a sense of guilt for not being able to keep up. Furthermore, listeners may miss out on valuable information, insights, or key takeaways by skipping through episodes or abandoning them altogether. This highlights the need for innovative solutions that enable listeners to quickly absorb key insights without needing to commit to listening to every minute of a lengthy episode.

- Adapting to an Established Team: Joining the team in week 6 of 8 was challenging, as I had to quickly adapt to existing workflows, dynamics, and goals. This mirrors real-world situations where you often integrate into teams mid-project, and flexibility is essential.
- Work-Blocking for Efficiency: With only two weeks to complete the project, I learned the importance of a structured work-blocking system. This approach allowed me to manage my time effectively and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Making Data-Driven Design Decisions: Unlike my past projects, I had to rely on research conducted by others. This was a valuable experience in using pre-existing data to guide design decisions, helping me focus on the core insights without starting from scratch.

I learned how important communication is when working with a team. Communication provides understanding, advice, ideas, and much more. While working with the product team, I’ve found that communication keeps everything flowing smoothly. Working with a team also showed me that every member brings something different to the table and we all have to work together in order to align and meet our end goal.
